As the saying goes, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” and it’s absolutely true that it’s easier to prevent oral health issues than to treat them. That’s why we believe so strongly in preventative care.

Our dental exams are thorough, covering the overall health of the teeth and gums as well as oral cancer exams and x-rays. These appointments generally also include professional cleanings, which are integral to oral health and the prevention of oral diseases. You may not know that your medical history also plays a part in your dental health, but it’s important for us to know about your overall health, including any new medications and recent illnesses. Sealants and fluoride also help prevent dental diseases. In addition to what we do in our offices, your home care is important to the health of your mouth. This includes flossing, brushing and rinsing.

Safety

Part of providing quality care is holding high standards in infection control. Maintaining strict sterilization and cross-contamination standards (recommended by the Ontario Dental Association, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Center for Disease Control) is important to protecting our patients and ourselves.

Our office has invested in a Jade Air Purification system as an additional measure to provide a safe environment for our patients. This system is an advanced 6-stage filtration unit maintaining “surgically clean” air in our operatories.
